All state-funded students receive a state academic scholarship — as of September 1, 2022, its size is 2164 rubles. To continue receiving it, it’s important to pass all your pass/fail exams and get "good" and "excellent" marks for graded exams.
For students studying in secondary professional education programmes, the scholarship is 758 rubles.
At our University, we hold a wealth of competitions for students. For instance, we host a contest for presentations on UNESCO World Heritage Sites or a competition for student-created social advocacy videos in English.
If University students find themselves in tough situations, we’re here to lend a hand — we may provide aid in various forms such as covering meal expenses, subsidising the cost of travel home, or other kinds of financial support. To apply for financial aid, you’ll need to submit a request personally via your Student Personal Account. Please take the time to familiarize yourself with the terms and procedures for receiving financial aid in this section.

A unique feature of SPbU is the clinical internship. We have established special clinics that allow students to acquire practical skills without leaving the educational process.

Under the guidance of a professor, students carry out real projects for clients - partners, employers, and various University services. The mission of this model is to help students fulfill their potential and future employers to prepare staff. The University has 16 clinics in various areas:

How do you get into a foreign university?
Studying at a University abroad
  • Apply for mobility programmes competitions
  • Through international academic mobility programmes, if you've won a grant from the organizers
  • Thanks to intergovernmental agreements, if you're participating in the annual open competition of the Russian Ministry of Education and Science

To go study at a foreign university, you need to familiarize yourself with the rules and select a suitable direction. Our students have studied at many universities around the world — they share their experiences in a special blog
Student mobility is the chance to study abroad for one or two semesters, experience the culture of another country, and make new friends. Your field of study doesn't matter — the main thing is not to delay preparing the documents since you can't participate in the competition in your final year.
Network Programmes
Our University, within the agreements with partner universities, implements joint programmes — their graduates receive two diplomas: one from SPbU, and the other from a foreign university. This format of education implies parallel studying at SPbU and a foreign university.
Since May 2010, St Petersburg University has been issuing its own diplomas in Russian and English. The university diploma contains many features (both in design and content) that help graduates to be competitive in the job market.
The supplement to the diploma meets the basic parameters of the Diploma Supplement, approved by the European Commission, the Council of Europe, and UNESCO, and is known as the "European Supplement to the Diploma". It publishes all the information necessary for your future employer: lecture courses, seminars, laboratory work, recalculation of results according to the European ECTS scale, as well as a note for completing online courses.

The supplement has information about the education system in Russia — it will come in handy if you plan to work in foreign companies. Moreover, your future diploma will be translated into English.
Also, our diplomas are equipped with a QR code, which allows a potential employer to get full information by following the link to the graduate’s personal page on the SPbU portal.
Features of the SPbU Diploma
Online courses at SPbU invite you to learn from leading scholars and teachers, no matter where you are in the world. SPbU has the highest number of online courses developed nationwide.
